Olives and ovaries

Olives and ovaries

An Italian study found that women whose diets included a lot of olive oil had a 30% lower risk of ovarian cancer. The reasons are unclear, but the healthy fats in the oil may help suppress genes predisposed to causing cancer.

egg (n.) mid-14c., from northern England dialect, from O.N. egg, which vied with M.E. eye, eai (from O.E. æg) until finally displacing it after 1500; both are from P.Gmc. *ajja(m) (cf. O.S., M.Du., Du., O.H.G., Ger. ei, Goth. ada), probably from PIE *owyo-/*oyyo- “egg” (cf. O.C.S. aja, Russian jajco, Breton ui, Welsh wy, Gk. oon, L. ovum); possibly derived from root*awi- “bird.

olive (n.) c.1200, “olive tree,” from O.Fr. olive “olive, olive tree” (13c.) or directly from L. oliva “olive, olive tree,” from Gk. elaia “olive tree, olive,” probably from the same Aegean language (perhaps Cretan) as Armenian ewi “oil.” Applied to the fruit or berry of the tree in English from late 14c. As a color from 17c. Olive branch as a token of peace is from early 13c.

Both words, although geographically and linguistically unrelated ultimately come from a ‘uwi’ sounding word, egg – AWI, and olive – EWI.

The Malvern Zodiac

Malvern Zodiac

Malvern Zodiac

According to its discoverer, Alan Gripton, the Malvern Zodiac is the oldest constellational star map in the world

“At the heart of England where ancient counties meet, a beautiful terrestrial zodiac lies hidden – the Malvern Zodiac – a circle of ancient constellations carved into the landscape by the first post-glacial inhabitants of this land more than 10,000 years ago.It is obscured from the modern world by its enormous size and most of the surviving graphic outlines now form the roads, footpaths, waterways and field boundaries of a 21st century agricultural landscape.

The Malvern Zodiac is the source of legends – a unique design that preceded the zodiac that we all know today. It opens a window into the dark and distant past of our ancestors and, when compared to historical documents, holds ramifications that will send shockwaves through the dusty corridors of church and academia.”

Cao Dai

Cao Dai

Deep in the Vinh Tuong District in Southern Vietnam is to be found perhaps the most colourful cathedral in the world.

It is the Cao Đài temple in Tay Ninh and is the place of worship of the Cao Đài, a modern syncretistic, monotheistic religion, officially established in the city of Tây Ninh, southern Vietnam in 1926.

On the Cao Đài’s official website they state what they are all about

The noble effort of CaoDai is to unite all of humanity through a common vision of the Supreme Being, whatever our minor differences, in order to promote peace and understanding throughout the world. CaoDai does not seek to create a gray world, where all religions are exactly the same, only to create a more tolerant world, where all can see each other as sisters and brothers from a common divine source reaching out to a common divine destiny realizing peace within and without.

CaoDai is a universal faith with the principle that all religions have one same divine origin, which is God, or Allah, or the Tao, or the Nothingness, one same ethic based on LOVE and JUSTICE, and are just different manifestations of one same TRUTH.

This would seem to explain the reason behind their eclectic mixture of western figures and communist leaders they have adopted as their patron saints including Winston Churchill, Vladimir Lenin, Thomas Jefferson, William Shakespeare and Victor Hugo to name a few.

Cao means “high” and Đài means “dais” (as in a platform or altar raised above the surrounding level to give prominence to the person on it). Figuratively, it means that highest spiritual place where God reigns.

It is interesting to note that the word for God in Italian is Dio, in French it is Dieu, in Spanish it is Dios and in Latin it is Deus.

The Isleworth Elvis

by 5ocietyx

Vince TaylorVince Taylor, born in Isleworth in 1939 as Brian Maurice Holden, was a British rock and roll singer. As the frontman for The Playboys, Taylor was successful primarily in France and the Continent during the late 1950s and early 1960s, afterwards falling into obscurity amidst personal problems and drug abuse.

According to David Bowie, Taylor was the main inspiration for Bowie’s character Ziggy Stardust.

Due to his relative obscurity and short career, Taylor remains an enigmatic part of west London’s Rock n Roll history.

Tour Montparnasse: the Mars leyline and the monolith of Saturn

by 5ocietyx

Tour Montparnasse is a skyscraper in Paris located at 33 Avenue du Maine.  Ever since it was built, film-buffs have noticed its resemblance to the monolith in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Although not of the exact same dimensions as the monolith it is interesting to note that construction commenced one year after the film and the novel of the same name written by Arthur C Clarke, who wrote the book concurrently, was released.

It is slightly offset from the Champ du Mars leyline and dominates the skyline.

For more in depth analysis of the Saturn-Mars-Paris connection see links below.

The UFO landing pad of Alberta

by 5ocietyx

St. Paul is home to the world’s first UFO landing pad, built as a centennial project in an effort to attract both tourists and Martians to the municipality. The pad consists of a raised platform with a map of Canada embossed on the back stop, consisting of stones provided by each province of Canada.

On June 3, 1967, Paul Hellyer, Minister of National Defence, flew in by helicopter to officially open the Pad. The pad was one of over 100 Centennial Projects organized by the town.

The sign beside the pad reads:

“The area under the World’s First UFO Landing Pad was designated international by the Town of St. Paul as a symbol of our faith that mankind will maintain the outer universe free from national wars and strife. That future travel in space will be safe for all intergalactic beings, all visitors from earth or otherwise are welcome to this territory and to the Town of St. Paul.”

Evolution: was man gibbon a second chance?

by 5ocietyx

what follows is a piece Stan Gooch wrote 35 years ago regarding human origins.

‘Chimpanzees and gorillas both have very heavy brow ridges. Gibbons also have these, but to a noticeably lesser extent. Orangs do not have them. The infants of all ape species have them in much less degree than the parents. In fact the young of all primates look a good deal more human than the adults. For my own money, the young of the gibbon look most human of all.

Baby gibbon

The young of apes look more human because further back in evolutionary time the adult ancestors of these primates were more human. The eighteen-week-old chimpanzee foetus looks quite amazingly human. These creatures have become more ape-like, after an initially closer start to ourselves, an example of devolution. A second, more important point is that young apes look more like us because we have managed to play one of nature’s oldest tricks – that of preserving child-like characteristics into adult life. This process is called neotony and is one of nature’s commonest methods of continuing the evolution of a species, in particular for backing it out of a dead-end. We have, for example, the flat face of the baby chimp, gorilla and gibbon, not the jutting muzzle of the adult. The process of neotony is central to any understanding of man’s evolution, and in particular to my own views.

another baby gibbon

One last word in favour of gibbons. Bernard Campbell states significantly: ‘The evidence for brachiation in man’s ancestry accumulates.’ Of course, with this statement Campbell does not mean to indicate the gibbon as such. Yet, the gibbon is the master brachiator.’

The Harrow-on-the-Hill Pentagram

by 5ocietyx

Harrow-PentagramThe Harrow Pentagram: Centre is St. Mary’s at Harrow-on-the-hill. The five points around it are: Belmont Hill Stanmore, Horsenden Hill Greenford, Barn Hill Wembley, Dabbs Hill, St. John’s Pinner.

According to Christ Street of

“London’s ley lines are not just simple straight alignments. Many of our ancient sacred sites are located in precise and complex geometric patterns on the landscape. When I first began to investigate this phenomenon in the early 1980s, I found a vast and beautiful network of sacred geometry linking many of London’s ancient sacred sites. It covered  the whole of Greater London and extended to linkup with other similar places the length and breadth of the land.

Most of the patterns are star-shaped, so the name Earthstars came naturally.

Earthstars can be understood in many ways. As a vast landscape temple.

As a construction of the spirit of the land, or in the case of London, the soul of the city.

As an aspect of the universal and planetary life-force, the web of life, which invisibly connects and binds all things.

As a protective spiritual aura over our Capital and other places where they are found.

Ultimately, I believe the specific geometry of London’s Earthstars (and the sites which define them) form a vast stargate, through which a transformative evolutionary force will affect our planet.

Obviously, this could only happen when certain planetary and stellar alignments occur. What they might be is open to debate.

Astrologers amongst you will know that the galactic centre will be focussed on London from 2012 and will remain there for the next fifty years.”

Chewbacca of Barnes

by 5ocietyx

Peter Mayhew aka ‘Chewbacca’  or to his friends simply  ‘Chewie’ was born and raised in Barnes, south-west London.

Chewie, a Wookiee, went on to become Han Solo’s first mate on the Millennium Falcon. When still a baby growing up in Barnes, Chewbacca would be unaware that just a few miles down the river Thames Yoda would be hiding out in Isleworth and the Stormtrooper Corp would be esembled on Twickenham Green.

As reported on today, Chewie ran into some ‘imperial entanglements’ himself a week ago when the dreaded agents of the TSA attempted to confiscate his light-sabre. They ought to have known it’s not wise to upset a Wookiee.

Mayhew was stopped at the sinister New World Order Airport-DUMB complex in Denver, Colorado when TSA agents refused to let Chewie board his plane with his one-of-a-kind cane.

Chewbacca, who is 7 feet, 2 inches tall, sat in a wheelchair at the airport as he pleaded with the agents and explained that he needed the cane to walk.

Having verified himself to the imperial agents using his Twitter account and using no small measure of ‘The Force’ the weak-minded TSA agents eventually relented.

The Imperial Stormtroopers of Twickenham Green

by 5ocietyx

In 1976 the order was given to begin production of the clone army of the  Stormtrooper Corp under the command of the Sith Lord and Emperor Palpatine.

Nick Pemberton and Andrew Ainsworth of Twickenham Green were coerced by the Sith and assigned the task of kitting out the main ground-force and Marine component of the military of the Galactic Empire with helmets, armour and weaponry.

Unbeknownst to the Sith Lord and Emperor however, Yoda himself had chosen exile in neighbouring Isleworth to escape Operation Knightfall: The Great Jedi Purge or Order 66 as it was known to the Empire hiding underneath the noses of the legions of Stormtroopers whose weak minds could easily be manipulated by Jedi Knights.  The bad vibes of the Clone Army also helped Yoda mask his presence from the Dark Lords.
