The Goddess Sichun, Goddess Peak, Wu Mountain, China

by 5ocietyx

The Goddess Sichuan

“Goddess Sichun”, a granite peak located in the northeast of the Nanqingyuan Scenic Spot 1180 meters above the sea level, is the landmark sight of Mount Sanqingshan, 86 meters in overall height. The whole peak looks like the silhouette of a maid with shoulder-length hair. For millions of years, “the Goddess” sits gracefully among the mountains, gazing silently at the bustling world with a serene expression. Legend has it that the Goddess is the 23rd daughter of Queen Mother of the West, named Yaoji. She is regarded as the incarnation of spring, hence the name “Goddess Sichun” (literally, meaning spring).

The ITU logo and the mythological thunderbolt

by 5ocietyx

ITU logo

ITU logo

The ITU logo appears to have been knocked together  in an early version of Power-point using clip-art which we guess is a cheaper option than paying brand consultants £100,000’s. It features the globe tilted what appears to be 23 degrees on its orbital axis.

The red lightning bolts would appear to represent electricity.

bibliotecapleyades.net has an in-depth study of the thunder/lightning bolt symbol and from what we can ascertain they suggest it isn’t a representation of lightning bolts at all but rather plasma weaponry or plasma ejections from planetary bodies. Early thunderbolt iconography represented weaponry of the gods rather than natural phenomena:

A thunderstorm is a remarkable, often terrifying event.

So it’s not surprising that few scholars have paused to wonder about the prominent role of lightning in ancient mythology.

Archaic images of huge lightning gods roaring in the heavens, or of celestial armies hurling lightning across the sky will appear perfectly “understandable.” Thus, students of folklore assure us that, through the primitive logic of the lightning myths, our early ancestors sought to describe one of the more frightening aspects of everyday life.

This common supposition is unfortunate, however, because it has prevented even the most discerning comparative mythologists from seeing the underlying patterns, none of which describes the phenomenon familiar to us.

As strange as it may seem, all of the most common lightning motifs speak of things never observed in our time.

The obscure ITU claims to have made everything from satellites to the internet possible by bringing together state bureaucrats to agree treaties and standards on how the world will interact with each other.

According to Wikipedia

The International Telecommunication Union, previously the International Telegraph Union, is the specialized agency of the United Nations which is responsible for information and communication technologies. ITU coordinates the shared global use of the radio spectrum, promotes international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, works to improve telecommunication infrastructure in the developing world and establishes worldwide standards.

They are currently reconvening in Dubai, that bastion of freedom, to rethink the 1988 treaty on the powers of governments on the internet and the powers the ITU hope to invest in themselves.

The ITU assume they own the internet. The only involvement they should have is to help build the meat-space infrastructure in developing nations where appropriate. Everything else should be abstracted away ftom their grasp as they are very much a part of the ‘weary giant of flesh and steel’. The closed shop conferences are attended by government representatives only. The public, internet companies,  and other standards bodies are frozen out of the decision making process and are not even allowed to see the results of secret ballots.

In doing so they defy the spirit of the internet which is open and inclusive, decentralized and uncensored. It is a shame they didn’t call themselves the International Communications Union or ‘ICU’ or ‘I See You’ as their plans for more governmental control of the internet including by nations such as China, Russia, Iran and others is very much a part of the Big Brother control grid and scientific dictatorship.

While attention is now focused on the WCIT 12 meeting, the ITU have already agreed to adopt a Chinese proposal at a related meeting also in Dubai called  WTSA 12 to eavesdrop on internet traffic. The Y.2770 standard will allow governments and ISPs to access not only ip headers of packets but their contents too using deep packet inspection.

According to c|net among other things

‘network operators will be able to identify “embedded digital watermarks in MP3 data,” discover “copyright protected audio content,” find “Jabber messages with Spanish text,” or “identify uploading BitTorrent users.” Jabber is also known as XMPP, an instant messaging protocol.

ITU: Storm clouds gathering across the interwebz

Wherever governments poke their noses into, taxes, censorship and centralized control are sure to follow as night follows day. They cannot help themselves and need to constantly find things for themselves to do.

The ‘lightning/thunder bolt’ symbol has been used by a rogues gallery of characters ranging from Sir Oswald Mosley’s BUF, the SS, Harry Potter, Lady Gaga, Marilyn Manson, KISS and others.
